Thumbs up really easy linux question (methinks)

this is prolly a stupid question, and i am prolly missing it somewhre, but im too cheap to buy linux, so i downloaded red hat 8.0. I want to use linux just to see what its like and expand my knowladge of it. I have a big book on it, but what i need to know is about burning the .iso's onto a cd. Do i just burn them onto cd's and then stick one in and reboot or what? i've looked around and cant really find anything on it. TIA

hi,

Once you have made the cdroms, the first one is bootable. Make sure that you check the md5 sums before you burn the iso image. Also, there is a proceedure for making the cd, you don't just drag the iso image to the cdrom.

Here is a site which has some info on burning iso images to cd......

Yeah the biggest mistake is to actually burn the ISO to the CD and not letting the burning program do it for you

ie. If you do it right you get a CD full of data
If you do it wrong you get a CD with an .ISO file on it

Yeah, so do ALL the good, commercial CD writing software. EZCD Creator works just as well as does cdrecord under Linux.

you could always keep the isos on your comp and use DAEMON tools as phantom drive to just load them.
