I was wondering if there was a way to connect two Linux computers (One using Red Hat 7 and the other Slackware 7.1)in a peer-to-peer network setup? I want to share files between computers. The Red Hat computer is primarily a graphical interface and has a modem. The Slackware computer is text-only mainly to be used for programming, etc. Both have 10Mbps NICs. Thanks.

Umm networking NetworkOS .. hmm you have really so many options available to you. Right from the get-go if you have specified correct eth.networking then they should be able to see each other. Assuming that you are using the 192.168.0.1/2 range, try pinging each other. If the pings are successful then you can simply telnet to the other computer.
Your network on each is started right? If not all u gotta do is go to linuxconf or netcfg or whatever u like and start up your network. On a side note, in case you didnt know, if one OS changed the procedure is essentially the same, except you need to have SAMBA run on your Linux. |
