CRASH Darwin and OSX

I just bought a used G3. I was wondering if anyone has used Darwin on a Mac before. Also, what is the difference between this and the Mac OSX. I want to try something different on this machine.

Darwin is the underlying kernel of OS-X. When you use OS-X you are using darwin.

Well, I tried Darwin. I am waiting for OS-X to come...I ordered it. I hope it works well on this machine. I expect it to work more like a "Mac". Thanks for the input.
