Hello again,
In my never ending search for more operating systems, I came across Knoppix Linux. The latest version came out on 1/1/03. It runs from a cdrom, but I also installed it on my hard drive. The hard drive install wallpaper will let you know for sure that it is a Debian linux. Really cool system with lots of goodies already installed like ..... NTFS access Partition Image (like Ghost) CD Roast (CD burner program) Open Office (like ms office) Just wondering if any of you have tried it???? |

Tried it, worked really good. I would certainly recommend it as learning linux, and for a "quick" workstation =P. (true plug and play er...use =) )

I use as well, it's a little slow since it takes time to load programs from the CD, but I like it just for a quick workstation to mess around with Linux like LiGhTBoY said.

I wonder if knoppix can be used to fix the lilo.conf on another system? If so, what is the proceedure?

It can be used. Mount the drive (read - write ) you have lilo on, open the /etc/lilo.conf file of that drive in a text editor, edit it and save it.

Yes, that should work but for some reason I can't save any changes. Says I don't have permission even though I'm logged in as Root and the folders belong to Root.
I finally just booted with Tomsrtbt floppy linux and was able to edit the lilo.conf with no problem. |
