Installation Probs w/ Linux Mandrake 9

Hello Everyone,

I'm having a problem w/ my linux box as it does not seem to boot past installation of mandrake 9. the problem is it needs to find the root and user passwords, however will not enable you to enter them in the setup/installation. the system is a 500mhz celeron, 256 ram, 4 gig hdd, 133 fsb. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Joeberg

My best guess is that something went wrong in the installation. How did you partition the drive? I'm guessing that it ran out of drive space somewhere in the install, but this is only a guess. With these new version distros, drive space is eaten up pretty quickly. At any rate, unless the setup was pointed to log on 1 user automatically (something I personally do not recommend), You should have been prompted to enter accounts and passwords... Just guessing here...

Thanks, but nothing bad happens during the installation, but thanks ALOT i believe i found out the problem; It was a faulty USB port during the install (The sys has no ps/2 mouse/kybrd ports, so you need usb kybrd/mice to use the sys) Im probly going to swap the hdd to a different machine and run then swap it back into the intended linux-box, and play with drivers and multiple accounts, etc.... Thanks, again,

Joeberg

Your BIOS might have something to enable legacy support to USB keyboard / mouse. Try turning that on.
