OK... so this is my first visit to PCmech via my Linux box at home. Woo Hoo!
So, I'm looking for some apps... one of which is Snort. I download it, no sweat. I read some of the MAN and readme files. It says "1.) *** Make sure you have libpcap installed!!! ***" OK... now being a Windows guy for the past 20 odd years, I know how to find out what I have installed pretty much over there... in Linux though? I recall checking dozens of insatllation package options, but if I could tell you what I had for dinner last night I MIGHT be able to remember if libpcap was installed. So, the short version of the question is, how do I find out this kind of stuff??? |

Hi,
Open a terminal and type "whereis filename" or you can type "slocate filename" (no quotes) hit enter, and it will look for your file. OOPS!
