I am on my Lindows machine now, an old Slot A 850 Athlon. I like it but it don't run Windoze programs. It can read from many Windows programs and files using Wine which usually automatically starts when needed. You can go to the Lindows website and look in the Click and Run Warehouse to see the available programs. There is something there to do just about anythng that can be done on Windoze and some games and such. It seldom if ever crashes and you can just shut down, restart and all is fine again. I have had very few problems with it, unlike Windoze, and you can use other Linux software that isn't in the C&R warehouse on it. It is basically a friendly user interface, menu driven, easy to use version of Linux.
Forgot to mention that it is built on the Debian Linux kernel and you can get some info and software there too. Last edited by Smoke24; 01-19-2003 at 11:07 PM. |
