I now have Linux, & I now have quest..
Well I now have Linux installed on my PC, and thank god, because I dont practice what I preach & didnt back anything up, everything is in good working order, both Linux, and my pre-existing winXP
I have seen a few shareware programs on download.com & cnet.com for Linux that let you run windows programs on Linux, just wondering if anyone here has seen/used them and can tell me if there any good or not. |

It all generally sucks. The wine projects are the best free right now. wine was very promising until it got to the point where each update seemed to run less and less programs; namely MS Office, delphi, and Visual C++ which ran swimmingly before updates. winex is okay but you have to make sure your X is configured perfectly before you do anything gameswise. Office works under winex with some tweaking. I am gleaning code from both projects to make some of my apps work right now but due to some legal issues with winex I have to keep it private.

I got Red Hat, like I said I have never used it up untill about a week ago, but yea there is alot of good stuff on the CD's as far as software goes, more then what you would ever find on any Microsoft OS cd(s) the only problem I have had come up is I cant get my new CD-RW drive to work (in Linux) maybe I shouldnt of bought the cheapo model (buslink 48x12x48) but then again it was only $25.

All software you need is on there with the exception of MS access. And don't expect to be able to read complicated word docs. You may be able to turn them into html or pdf and them open them in your favorite lin wordprocessor. You can download wine- almost any version before june 2002- and try to run office. It should do run MS office fine. Try wine/winex any version. I know that different setups have different results.
buslink seems to be just rebadged liteons. I know because I have two. These are great drives for great price. What exactly is the problem? |

I have another post that goes into a little more detail about the problem, you posted a reply there so I guess you know were it is, and thanks for the input too. I'll let you know how it turns out.
