I am running Mandrake 9 on my pc with a atlhlon 1600 XP processor, Hercules (kyro Based) 3D Prophet 4500 video card. I also have on board C Media sound.
The Problem I have is when I shut down the system I do not get a clean shutdown and power off, instead I get the message "Bad EIP Value" supurious 8259A, interrupt IRQ7. The system hangs until I manually shut it down with the power switch. Steve |

From what I read you should "use real mode APM BIOS calls to switch off the computer. This is a work-around for a number of buggy BIOSes. Switch option on if your computer crashes instead of powering off properly." Read the help page on it CONFIG_APM_REAL_MODE_POWER_OFF.
Apparently an old problem that used to inflict AMD K6 mobo's has reappeared. You can google it and find all sorts of references to AMD mobo BIOSes and Mandrake 9. I would suggest you start there. CH |
