Windows prog compatibility with Mandrake

I vaguely remember reading somewhere that a Linux version had the ability to have windows progs/games installed and run fine. Is it true, or are there limitations?

Are you talking about lindows? It runs some progs ok....but seriously ****ks up in others . You can get wine and install it on the linux os , it will allow you to run some of the win apps on linux.

You can find out more about WINE here http://www.winehq.com/ . And here http://sourceforge.net/projects/winex . Wine-x costs money, Wine is free as in beer.

Getting things to run under either is problematic. It works well for some, not so well for others. A distro like Lindows uses wine to achieve its' Windows compatability.

Personally, I always look for native apps. Easier to install and just as good to use.

OOPS!

Thanks, OOPS! I'll look into it more once I install it the way I want it and get settled into using the O/S a little bit.
