Recently downloaded Mandrake 9.1 and had a very successful installation on my second computer except for the Winmodem. If I where to purchase a US Robtics 2976 modem would that be compatible with linux installations? TIA

Try this: http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/
[edit]: Never mind. I misread what your modem was. I thought you said "Rockwell".

I was actually reading up on this today ( I was thinking of duel booting but decided against it cause of NTSF) anyways apperently mandrake will work with almost any TRUE modem, it will not work with most winmodems because in a winmodem a lot of the operations that are normally done in the hardware are done by software and therefore the drivers are very tough to make and mandrake programmers havent gotten around to making many...so as long as it is a true modem and not a winmodem your probably allright
