X server in an notebook

I installed Mandrake 9.0 in a Toshiba Satellite Computer (which came with XP pre-installed, so I have a dual boot).

I can't start the X server. When I type startx, the screen goes black with red flashes.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Type Xconfigurator from the command line. This will allow you to choose a different driver for your video card and or monitor.

Thanks for answering, I had an old nVidia driver. Downloaded the last version and worked fine.

Thanks.

Just for the record, I had a simular problem with my HP omnibook and X. Being a linux newbie, I didn't know about some of the neat tools available, so I did it by messing with the xf86config file. Harder for sure, but it worked...and I got a good understanding how X works

Does Xconfigurator come with RH9? It didn't come with RH8, I had to edit xf86config like LocoCoyote to get drivers installed.

You know, I belive that you should learn the command line stuff first, then play with the fancy stuff.
