Question about Red Hat Linux 9.0 and Mandrake 9.0?

Currenlty i am trying to install either Red Hat Linux 9.0 or Mandrake 9.0 on my Laptop.

But everytime when i try to install the program from a CD. The first screen almost give me this error message.

"Initializing PC Card Device

Bank3: b40000000000083b at 00000001fc0003b0

Kernel panic: unable to continue

"

I wonder what is happening. I try to either install Mandrake 9.0 as well as Red hat linux on my laptop. it still give me the same error. Can anyon help me..

My laptop is made by Hewlett Packard. the model number is ze4101

AMD XP 1800+
512 DDR 2100 Ram
20Gig Hard Drive.
DVD Rom.

Not sure...
I am not an expert, but I do have RH9 on my HP omniBook.
Do you have a pc card installed? if so have you tried removing it?

i haven't looked through it myself but it's a good starting point and place to get some tips for installing linux on laptops.
