I like it. Doubt if you will find another that installs and sets up as easily. Has the matrix screen saver, oooooooooh.

It is my prime candidate distro to get people interested in Linux. It's soooo pretty.
Works very well in that regard.

Most other distro's have the matrix screensaver.

I personaly dont care for Lycoris. the hardware support it not very good. and it lacks in included applications.

I have used lycoris before , and it i svery easy to use. Teh only problem i had with is was that is looked way to much like win xp, and that is the reason i got a distro of linux. It is very good for begineers to linux

Lycoris is ok, but Mandrake may be a better solution for a newbie. Just because there are more incluided packages, and the hardware support is better. Mandrake even has NTFS support, so it will auto detect NTFS partitions, so they can access their windows drive.

Lycoris has NTFS support as well, it will autodetect your NTFS drive. I like Lycoris, I have been playing with Linux for a few years now and think this is a step in the right direction. The hardware support is just about the same as you will find with any other Linux distro, it may find everything and configure it on one PC and my not find everything on another. I like the fact is has Java installed making programs like Limewire cake to install. Which is how it should be.

All I can say is I had never fooled with Linux before, and Lycoris installed perfectly. It found the nic, went thru the switch, found the router/modem, and had me online perfectly from the start. No prob save for the sound, and that may have been me. I like Lycoris or Gentoo. Gentoo is a little more involved.

Wow. What an understatement. Gentoo reqires that you compile everything from source. It's a great learning experience but reqires the better part of a day to compile everything for a working desktop and you have to be familiar with basic linux configuration to pull it off successfully. I can't think of two distros at more opposite ends of the ease of use spectrum than lycoris and gentoo.

True, but it's like building an engine, the gentoo being a roller cammed blown aluminum hemi you build, and the Lycoris would be like a factory made caddy engine.
Yeah and sometimes it takes more than a day, depending on cpu and mem.
