Unix 5.0.6 and windows environment
Let me start by prefacing that i've never worked on a Unix machine. A friend of a friend has a unix server coming in that will be housing their financial data. She is saying the windows clients will be separate from the Unix machine (mentioned different cable/network...she is not technical). Then she said that the clients would access the information on unix to create invoices, etc and print from unix.
Would they run the program via telnet? She said she didn't want the two networks to mix as she was concerned with security since the windows machines would be online. The way i see it, firewall protecting the entire network, AV on clients and servers and the windows clients login to the unix machine so they can work on the data stored there. Am i correct in this or is there another configuration seen with Unix/Windows environment? |

Are we talking accessing a database app here (on the unix box) from windows or is it more of a windows access files on unix?

Sounds to me like they would be accessing an app running on the unix box via a terminal session. I don't think it is an running on the desktop that access files on the unix box.

it seems to me a typical ssh session would be all that is needed then
or am I missing something? |
