Question KDE or GNOME for RH9?

Which do most people use in RH?

RH seems to be most closely associated with Gnome.

The question he ask is what do most people use in RH. I still think the answer is Gnome, but I have to admit that I prefer KDE.

I agree with CH. I used to use gnome all the time, but I've switched to KDE in the past 6 months, because I simply think its a better desktop.

Is there any specific reason to have one over the other for RH?

I think RedHat supports Gnome better than KDE.

Okay, maybe I should be asking: What are the differences between the two?

When you install RH, install both and find out. Actually, the differences are pretty cosmetic, both are GUI front ends. I was going to say that they are both like Windows frontend but, duh, all three serve the same function. I happen to think that KDE has a little more integrated feel, but that is personal preference.

I did install both a play with each one for a while. The only differences I saw were cosmetic. I was just wondering if there were any other differences.

Thanks guys

I was under the impression that the root of the evil between the two was the graphical library Qt and its quasi open source-ness.

I have noticed some KDE apps do not work on Mandrake or the new RedHat because Mandrake has some weird directory structure and RedHat modified KDE and Qt. Maybe Gnome will win.

Don't bother me none. I don't either.
