Internet in Libranet 2.8

Libranet didn't detect my cable modem automatically, and I'm having trouble installing anything through the AdminMenu too. It detects the card, but cant install any drivers (forgot why, I think something about it being disabled). I checked D-links website, and found the linux drivers for my Lan card, http://d-link.com/products/support.asp?pid=122#drivers , but when I klick on the linux driver, a page comes up instead of a prompt asking me where to save it to. Any ideas on what to do? I've read through a few posts on the Libranet forum, and 2 people said they fixed the problem by downloading the drivers, recompiling the Kernel and installing them...sounds a bit too complicated though.

thank you
