Grip question
How do I do to configure Grip in Linux red hat 9 to encode in mp3 format? do I have to download a plugin since redhat 9 does not support mp3?
The actual settings for ogg encoder are: Codec: oggenc encoder executable: /usr/bin/oggenc encoder command line: -0% m -a% a- 1% d -t% n -N%t-G%G -d%Y -q 4%w encoder file format: ~/ogg/%A%d/%n.ogg |

I assume the problem your having is do to the lack of mp3 support in redhat. I beleive the standard grip comes with an mp3 encoder. You can download the standard version here:
http://www.nostatic.org/grip/ Try unistalling grip and reinstalling the standard version. The redhat rpm is on the above website. |

Okk I downloaded the standar version of grip and the default rip format seems to be MP3 I riped the songs, they are with the mp3 extention, but I canīt play them With xmms so I copied them to a win98 pc to test the files with music match and they donīt play either, they play only if I place the mouse pointer over them in konqueror.

There's a plugin rpm to add mp3 support to xmms for redhat:
http://havardk.xmms.org/dist/xmms-1.2.7-rh8-rh9-rpm/ Grip must have added the mp3 codec somewhere which is why konqueror is playing the mp3s; apparently, xmms can't find it. Try installing the above plugin and see if xmms works. Trying to reconfigure xmms to find and use the mp3 codec installed by grip is the other way to go, but that sounds like a giant pain to me. |
