java for linux
I need to install a java pluggin for linux mandrake 9.1 but I have no idea where to get it and how to install I already tried downloading one from sun and it does nothing.

Check out this link for info on using the java plugin. The key is in establishing a softlink. Read the "how-to" at that page for the exact instructions. They're not hard, just follow explicitly.

I couldn't figure out that one but I found another site I just log in as root and it installs everything automatically.

Glad you got it fixed.
One thing to remember, if I understood your response, be VERY careful about being on the 'net and being root -- at the same time. When you are root, your entire system is wide open. When you are on the 'net, it's a big ugly world. The two can result in a sad end. But I still am glad you got it fixed and are moving on with your Linux experience !!
