I am relatively new to Linux, I have read that it is possible to get the Compaq IJ900 Printer to work with RedHat 7.0, however I have not had any luck. Just wondering if someone could give me a walk through of what I need to do to get this printer to work. I have tried installing the Lexmark drivers for this printer as well, but also had no luck there either. Any help would be appreceiated.

Yep the printer is Linux-able
The printer is basically a proprietary release of what was originally a Lexmark, so the drivers are the same as the Lexmark [thats Comcrap for you
]Check out the following links: Printer compatibility & Driver information- http://lhd.datapower.com/db/dispproduct.php3?DISP?1566 Linux Printing, Printers & everything you need to know: http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_pr...?recnum=132800 Linux Printing HOWto: http://lhd.zdnet.com/LDP/HOWTO/Printing-HOWTO/ It would be nice if you went through them, and try it out, if you cant get it to work, post back with the specifics of whats going on, and we'll try to iron it out for u. Ok, I did get the printer to at least print now. After I selected the Lexmark 7000 driver and reset the lpd option in printtool the printer started spitting info out. However, it is only printing in color, even just plain old text, no black. Any work around for this? Thanks.
