Linux on an HP

I recently put Win2K on an HP computer that said it wasn't compatible.......works great.....

I tried to put Mandrake 9.1 on it.....said something about a ramdisk error......
and that the 2nd stage couldnt start.....some crazy stuff.....

It's an HP Pavilion 6553
Intel Cel. 500 Mhz
320 RAM

Can anyone help me out with this problem?

(Redhat 9 is downloading as we speak)

give me your thoughts,

The first thing I would suspect is a bad download or burn. Did you check the md5sums of the downloaded isos? If they check outt OK, try burning at a slower speed, like 4x.
