Slackware newb

Allright now...
I downloaded Slackware 9.1 last night after reading up and following links for several hours. I understand that this is not a newbie distro, but I'm hard headed that way. It looks like a perfect fit for me and I'll climb a steeper hill to avoid having to relearn a seperate linux distro on the way. Looks like there are plenty of linux forums for getting technical info and I'll be able to use my second computer to chase down info along the way and make it over the rough spots. Will linux allow me to completely customize stuff, say configure the XMMS media player to shuffle songs, play 30 tracks, then exit or stuff like that? Have I got the wrong idea about the flexibility of linux with that example? I don't think I'll be writing my own applications any time soon, but it would be fun (I think!) to get inside some stuff and twist it around just because I can.
Can anyone tell me if my Silicon Image driver diskette will load up with my linux install and work the same as it does with windows, or how I'll be able to use my SATA at all?

I'm just like you, linux newbie that started slackware.

XMMS is just like winamp 2.x, it shuffles, not sure about exit.

Not sure what a "Silicon Image driver diskette" is though

I believe you can do anything with Slack, it's just a matter of being able to yourself. SATA should work no prob, I know that Red Hat picked up on mine and even had the drivers on hand, but for slack you may have to jump through some hoops and configure it a little. But Slack is the race horse of the distro's, I can't wait to get back to it. Just installed it on my laptop, to start tinkering with it...
