Red Hat 9.0 and Java VM

I have Red Hat 9.0 installed on a dual OS boot (GRUB). (Works wonderful) I have tried to install Java VM and did so successfully but RH9.0 won't recognize that it is present. Maybe I am missing a step. Even did a link and doesn't see it. I am new to Linux and would need specific installation instructions to make it work. I have tried to follow the instructions given by Sun and is not working. Please help?

I'm sorry maybe it is not RH 9.0 that has a problem recognizing Java. May be it is Netscape 7.1 that won't recognize it. Either way even with a symbolic link it isn't working.
