www.linuxiso.org is a good place to get linux, i would suggest mandrake

As for gaming, you would need to install winex, and it won't guarantee it will work perfectly.

I suggest trying Red Hat 9.0, and windows...Ever thought of maybe having a dual boot machine. If you are going to go to Linux, goto Distrowatch.com and read what they have to say about the different distrobutions that are out there. I also don't suggest just downloading from the enternet, go support a distro and buy there product. You can also go to your local book store and select from hundreds of how to manuals that also include the operating system with it.

I looked around and mandrake9.2 looks like its better for newbs plus its free(unless I cant find a friend to make me the CD's ill get a redhat book). As for dual boot my HDD is only 40GB, I can fil it up pretty quick. And for winex, is it legal?

Yes, that sounds like the route to take... Haven't ever downloaded a distro before, accept red hat, at that never installed it. sometimes its tricky, at least for me. I'm somewhat of a newb...

When you download Mandrake 9.1 i586 from Linuxiso you have to download the three CD's listed. Install, extras and internationalsation. It is a three CD set. I just installed it from Linuxiso until my mandrake 9.2 came, to see how it compared to Red Hat.
