Lightbulb how do i configure slack for internet?

After reveiwing several posts for wireless card's and linux, i've considered just using my onboard nic in the laptop. How due I get online and where do I start in slackware? i'm using gnome as my desk, looking around there and no way to configure from the gui, what now? this is one of reasons I decided to go with red hat, but decided I like a little bit of a challenge. i've redhat installed on another machine and it basicallly does everything for u, but it's a little fat so I installed slack on my laptop to try it out... Please help, i'm a newb!!!
