Boom linux video troubles

I installed Red Hat Linux 8.0 and I'm pretty satisfied with it, but the x server doesn't properly detect my monitor or video card.

The video card is a SiS 315 chipset with 128 MB RAM
-It is detected as a generic VESA with 65 odd thousand KB
The monitor is an Acer 76ie CRT
-Detected as a generic monitor

When I try to manually setup this information x refuses to load.

Also, I cannot change the resolution of color depth without x attempting to eat my children and refusing to load.

Can anyone help me with this SiS chipset issue?
