just got this laptop from my uncle, it is a powerbook 540c and i need to load a mac os. problem is, there is no cd drive. it has floppy though. does anyone have any ideas. also, it does have the appletalk connection, so i was wondering if there is a way to get it onto my network. thanks in advance

You can download MacTracker from Apple's website and see that your 540c came with system 7.1.1 which was distributed on floppies. You might find Apple letting you download this system free as they have allowed up to 7.5 something to be downloaded free of charge. Your system is capable of being updated to 8.1 according to MacTracker.

thanks for the advice. where would i go to download this, i don't have any other mac systems, so how would i go about putting it on floppy once i did get it if it is like an image file?
