putty on 486/win95 laptop - controlling CS/HL server
Hi everyone.
( newbie alert ) I have a CS/HL sever (Redhat, local network), and I was using Putty in Win2000 ( same LAN ) to start and stop the server. I now have a small old 486 laptop with Win95 on it that I was thinking would be nice to use Putty on for managing the server. How much can I do with Putty? If I could handle day to day stuff, text editing config files, etc, it would be amazing. I would like to put the server box "out-of-the-way" as it were, without a monitor or keyboard. I now am running XP, so I could put Putty on the XP machine, but I would also like to start to do things remotely, hence the laptop. Is there a better way of doing this, or is telnet via Putty OK? |
