you need to use the fdisk/mbr command in addition to the deletion of the partition to erase the bootloader installed there, unless if you installed it to the root partition.

What jimmyrules712 is that if you boot from a boot floppy, from the "A" prompt type "fdisk /mbr" (without quotes). this will remove the Linux Boot Loader that was added by the Linux installation. Also, use "fdisk" to remove the Linux partitions and to create a new partition for Windows.

The simplest way for you to remove Linux is to delete the partition(s) containing it using a partition manager such as Partition Magic or even Windows XP's own Disk Manager (Right click My Computer, select Manage, and navigate to Disk Management).

Once you have done that, boot from your Windows XP CD and enter the recovery console (choose to repair an existing installation, and from there to go to Recovery Console). Log in as an Admin and type "FIXMBR" at the command prompt. Accept any warnings and choose to continue. When the repair is done, reboot and you should be back to a single boot system.

Windows XP does not support the command FDISK/MBR.

You are correct. I have been doing everything from the boot disk for so long I did not even think that if a person is using Windows XP it is as simple as you have outlined. From the Windows installation sequence it gives you the option to delete partitions, create new ones, etc....
