New to linux
Howdy do people and a Merry Crhistmas. Ok so my weindows XP crapped out on me, but i had linuz redhat 7.3. So i put it on. Now i dont know to much about linux. I was wondering if someone could help me figure how to DL AIM.
Also how would I log into root? |

to log on to root just log out then at the log on screen type root and then the password.

OK so I have done that where would i be able to load aim on my computer? This all looks just like the reg. login.

yes it does look the same, but now you have all the rights to do anything
all you need to do now is the install, go to the internet , I think it will be netscape and do the install, from there I have no idea as I have not done it myself, on this ver of linux, I think I have it on my other system with ver 9.0, but should be the same. I am just learnning this linux stuff myself I have both ver 7.2 and 9.0 |

So your saying login root go to aim.com and just download with no problems or typing stuff?

if the browser is netscape for the internet you should get a download and install there, I think netscape uses aim in it. but you need to do that to be sure for your self.
you can get on the internet now right ? |

Once you download the AIM program you might need superuser (root) privileges to install it. You can login as root, or you can login as yourself and type "su" (without quotes) at the command line. Then enter your root password. This should allow you to install the software. Let us know how it goes. HTH
