Unix Uninstall
I had XP, Win2k and Radhat installed on my test/school system. I am trying to clean the sys up however am running into problems with the grub, I think. I formatted everything with the XP part, while attempting to keep XP as the only OS for now. Every time I reboot now it throws me into, I think, a unix prompt "grub>". I tried running the recovery tool with my XP disc however I still get the "grub>" prompt and nothing else. Any suggestions appreciated. Note: I have one HD w/ 3 parts, 1st being XP, which I can't get to boot, and the next 2 parts are blank and formated.

Boot off your XP CD and enter the recovery console by choosing to repair an existing installation (you will have to log in as administrator). Once you are at the Command Prompt, type FIXMBR and press Enter. The system will warn you about possible loss of data, but choose to continue anyway. Repair will commence.
Once the repair process has been completed, the system will reboot, and you should then be able to boot straight to XP from then on. |
