MandrakeMove
Has anyone used MandrakeMove ? Does the ability to save configuration and personal data to a USB key available with the download edition or only the Boxed edition?

I believe it's only with the boxed version. You can try PCLinuxOS which is based on mdk9.2. It is currently under heavy development, but when I tried the most recent download, I was very impressed. It's made by texstar, a well known independent rpm packager for mandrake. It currently supports USB key and is free:
