Windows exe files can't run natively under Linux, because they are designed for Windows and not Linux, however, you may able to run them using a program called Wine.
Wine is a bit difficult to get working right if you re new to Linux, so I suggest you wait some time till you are familiar with the OS.
What kind of program are you trying to run? Most of the time you can find a native alternative for Linux.

I know wine and as far as I know it is a freeware in contrast to WMware also there are lots of alternatives of free software for linux.Time is a good solution for most problems but that is a windows habit. One of these programs is kyodai majong it is my favorite game.other can be half life,winamp,sandra...
Ưn fact programs dont matter concerning to wide variety of linux alternatives it is just a habit of mine.
thanks anyway...At least I learnt that exe cannot be run in linux.

as an alternative for Winamp, check out XMMS: http://xmms.org/

I got HL to work perfectly well under Linux using Wine, check out this: http://lhl.linuxgames.com/howto.shtml

I have been playing around with the Linux/Windows software problem for a bit now.
I want to run MS office (let's face it..the best office suite out there) and some form filler software (windows again)

I am wanting to run SuSE as my full time OS, but had the above mentioned problem...

What to do...........
well, I upgraded to SuSE 9 and purchased the "Wine rack"
This is really only Crossover office, the plug-in, and Wine. Guess what....it works like a charm!

Not only does it work well with MS office, but I have had good results with many other windows only software apps.

I highly recommend it!
