Permission problems
So here I am playing a CD on my Linux PC as my windows PC has Screwed-Up-Sound(tm) and I'm using KsCD. freedb doesn't have aentry for my CD- Bon Jovi - Crush - 9c0dac0c. freedb does have entries for other versions of Crush hough- even some with the same tracks, smae order, but different id number. *bangs head on wall.
Anyways, so I decided I should make an entry for this. I type in all the info, I go to clikc Ok, choose the rock category for my cddb entry, and then I see a error message: Quote:

That directory does exist, correct?
If so, it looks to me like you don't have permissions to write to that folder. You can either a) log on as root and do it b) change the permissions. You can change permissions by right clicking on the folder or by using the chown command. HTH |

So far I haven't tried the chmod- but I did go into the properties - permissions, and basically I allowed everything before the ordeal was over. I'm currently too tire/lazy to do the chmod- will do try that tomorrow after school if it will make any difference?
I checked the location again, it had the complete "address" minus the /rock directory. Well, tomorrow I will look at this closer unless anyone has any other suggestions? L J |

Open KSCD and click on the hammer/screwdriver button to bring up the configuration window. Tick on the freedb icon on the left and see if the "enable save to local database" box is ticked. If not, tick it. You might want to also tick on the "Update" button under freedb server. That should bring up a fresh list of freedb servers. Try selecting a different one and see if you can find one with your album on it.
Also check the location of your freedb base directory; it should be: /home/[username]/.kde/share/apps/kscd/cddb/ |

kilgertrout- all information you have provided is done, saving to local database is enabeled, I did update the server list- I don't have time right now to try a different server but I will try when I get back, and the path is what you say it should be.
