wusb11 2.8 + linux

Hey guys

I'm trying to get linux to connect to the internet, but my problem is it's not, heh. Well, it's not working because i'm connected over a wireless network in my house, and yesterday I just connected a Linksys Wireless-B USB Network Adapter to my computer so i could use my computer upstairs. But, linux doesn't have it in the network setup area. So, i looked stuff up and i could get drivers and all that, but for v. 2.8, they don't have any. I found some things though that said i could still use the drivers for v. 2.6 or something like that over here: linux questions So, i tried to follow what it said, but i got really confused, knowing that i'm a newbie at Linux. I think i'm starting to understand it though because i found better instructions at linuxjunior.org, but when i followed them, it didn't work. If this isn't too clear, just ask and i'll answer. But, if anyone can help me out on how to fix my internet to work on linux and/or to give me nice clear instructions on how to fix it, please give them to me. It'd be great, thank you.

Linux and wireless systems seem to be a bit of a bear to do. I have yet to do it successfully, but I kept giving up on distros and switching to new ones. Once I have found the distro I want to stay with I will give it a better try. You don't say what Linux distro you are using. LinuxJunior (now Justlinux) and Linuxquestions.org are good sites for info, but don't forget the web site forums for the actual system you are using. And don't be surprised but some are friendlier than others.

You already know then that www.linuxquestions.org has a distro specific forum for Fedora. You can also check Redhat's website. They have a Fedora Project link that I believe helps with some problems.

Okay, i looked up more things on my problem, and i may have found a solution, but i may need some help. Okay, 1st, i found something that said that the wusb11 works on fedora if i use the commands dmesg because it'll detect the usb device itself, but when i tried that, it didn't work because it said there were no drivers for it. So i looked again, and i found something else, which i found before to, but i found more places that said the same thing. It said that for v.2.8, the Berlios drivers work. There was also something about installing wireless tools. So, what are the wireless tools? And, how do i install the berlios drivers? Heres the site with the berlios drivers: http://at76c503a.berlios.de

okay, so i tried my best to understand, and all that. I extracted, ha i think that's the right word, the file and then i did a make, but i got errors, i think it was error 127. I also tried the atmel drivers too, and i did a make config and i answered the yes and no questions then when i got to doing the make all, it got errors too. I don't know if you're getting that too. So, i don't knwo if i'm doing anything wrong. But, i've been looking at things and some people said that they can get 2.8 to work with the berlios drivers, all i have to do now is know how to install those and everything. Any help, that'd be cool. thanks!
