Hi,
I had an extra HD for my old HP Omnibook 5500ct so I used it to install Linux Redhat 6.1 on it and everthing seemed to go well except the networking functions. I have a 3com 3c589c PCMCIA card for it, do I need the drivers for the PCMCIA slots & the card or just the card? I checked 3com and they were no help. During the startup I noticed that initialization of eth01 failed. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Gene C |

Make sure that you have PCMCIA loading up in your services (SySV Init Editor), once you get that on use netcfg or linuxconf to configure your network and routing etc.
I've had linux ( Redhat 6.xx and caldera) kernel 2.2.xx runing quite well on a laptop. make sure that you grab good apmd modules, PCMCIA is qute stable and way better than mickeysoft hth |
