boot.img
I'm trying to get flonix usb version to work on my laptop but I don''t have a floppy drive for the boot floppy. Is there a program I can use to open the boot.img file and burn the files onto a cd? Or since my laptop supports USB booting can I just place the files on the usb drive?

If you try to open boot.img and simply copy the files in it to a CD or your USB drive, it will not be bootable.
Instead, use a tool like UltraISO and make a new compilation from all the files you want on your bootable CD. Next, click on Bootable>Load Boot Image in the menu bar and point to the boot.img file in your compilation. The label above the folder list in the top box should now change from "Non-Bootable" to "Bootable" Save the whole thing as an ISO image somewhere and then use your CD burning proggie to burn the image to CD. |
