Hey all... Im going to attempt to install Redhat Linux 9.0... and make this a dual boot system. Specs are as follows:
Asus a7v8x-x Motherboard AMD XP Barton 2500+ 512md PC 2700( i think 2700) DDR ATI 7500 64mb DDR Hercules Gaming Theater 6.1 Sound Card 32x12x40 Lite On CD Burner 40x CD ROM Drive Lite On Generic FLoppy 30gb IBM 7200 rpm Hard Drive (this has windows installed on it) FAT 32 80gb 7200 rpm WD 8mb cache (NFTS, but I would like to install LInux on This drive) D-Link DL-704P Router TOshiba Cable MOdem etc etc So my questions being: - Will there be any problems with trying to put Linux on the 80gb thats already NFTS?? (btw its got virtually nothing on the drive) - I had linux installed before, but not dual boot and my internet worked just fine... but will this router I just installed Change any of that? If not, what needs to be done? Im basically new at making dual boots... also.. Does Linux take care of the screen where u get to choose your OS at start up? Any other helpful hints and tips would be greatly appreciated thanks all... ILl be glad to answer any more questions about my setup if You need them.

*UPDATE*
TOday I used partition magic to make 40gb of my 80 as "unallocated space" for linux to be installed on... Now I want to change my 30gb over to NFTS ... dont you go into cmd.exe but I forgot what exactly you type there...?? SO i think right now Im all set for the installtion of Linux... I just hope that linux will set up a dual boot loader so I can choose which OS i want at start up.. (because I dont know how you set one up) |

You can use partition magic to change your 30 gb to ntfs.

Partition magic would be the easiest way to partition your hard drive. When you install redhat 9 it will tell you that it found another OS and it will ask you if you want your other OS to show at boot up.
