Mandrake Move

How do I save my settings and files to a usb key in mandrake move?

Wouldn't that be illegal since linux is published under the GPL?

Not really. You can run proprietary software on a GPL OS without the software becoming GPL and there are many examples of this in linux. Suse's yast config utility suite is proprietary and not under the GPL for example. Mandrake could make the program to accompolish saving settings to a usb keychain not under the GPL in mandrake move, although I don't know that they have done so.

Also, the GPL only requires that the source code be freely available; you don't have to distribute compiled binaries free of charge. The source code for the full mandrake move may be available but you would have to compile everything, make a bootable iso of the compiled source tree and burn it to get a functioning full copy of mandrake move. That may very well be what mandrake has choosen to do with the full mandrake move which is completely legal.

WHEN CD BOOTS TO THE BLUE SCREEN CHOOSE F1 KEY READ THE SCREEM , IT WILL TELL YOU. mANDRAKE IS INCREDIBLE, iT'S ALREADY SAVE MY BUTT ABOUT 20 TIMES

with knoppix you can save several settings like desktop icons, background, ... to a regular diskette, is this possible on mandrakemove?

sderaps, i'd advise you not to type in caps , the mods usually dont like it around here.
