Linux for load balancing

Are there any good linux distros available for load balancing 2 WAN connections. We don't need anything too clever and wouldn't need it to perform any other function. Preferably something that can go on older hardware and in an ideal world would only require KVM for the install, after which config/tweaking can all be done remotely.

Alternatively can anyone recommend a sound but cheap dedicated solution.

I would save yourself the trouble an pick one of these up. I have the 402 with dual WAN setup at my house and it works great, tons of features, web administration. I got mine for $100 on ebay brand new. Just a suggestion
