Slax won't detect my CD-RW??

I'm using the CD version of Slax Linux at the moment (about a 134mb download). When I run the k3b burning program, select my files and press "burn" it says it cannot detect a valid burning device. When I go into Utilities / k3b Setup 2, it has my two drives listed where I can edit my permissions (a Lite-On DVD and a Phillips CD-RW). BIOS also detects my two drives. I've changed the order of the cable so that the DVD-ROM is now at the middle of the ribbon cable and the CD-RW is at the end but I still get the same message.

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance, JTH

If you have the permissions properly set you might need to enable ide-scsi emulation on your cdrw for it to work properly with K3B. HTH

You may also want to check to see if your particular drive is supported by your OS Slax Linux. If not you may need to update your drivers.

RE Floppyman: I can't seem to find that option. I go into "k3b setup 2" but I can't really "edit" anything or "set permissions" (maybe I'm missing something but I seem to only be able to tick or untick the boxes beside the two drives).

RE Diver203_98: How do I check if it is supported and/or upgrade my Linux drivers?

Thanks again everyone

You can't if it's a live CD... You can, but you don't want to, trust me... Did you have any luck with another Live CD?
