KNOPPIX resolution
i'm a linux noob and i burnt KNOPPIX onto a CD to check it out.. the one thing that annoyed me though was that the resolution certainly seemed asthough it was 640x480 or 800x600 (probably the latteR).. anyway it seemed a very small screen which frustrated me, and i couldn't figure out how to change it.. so, how do u?

Well you have to edit the XFree86Config file, or... shoot, not sure what the name is. Should be in the /etc directory though... XF86Config(-4)?. Anyways, I am unsure of how you would be able to change it though, since you are running off of the CD and can't change information on the CD(which you would be doing when editing the config file). Possibly it would allow you to change resolutions by pressing ctrl +... Worth a shot I guess... Not really sure how to give you a definite answer though unless its a HD install...
Hope someone comes along with more definite answer for ya. |

When your first boot off the cd your at boot prompt. Type this at the boot prompt to change the resolution of the gui that you boot into:
knoppix screen=[insert screen resoulution] For example, if you want a 1280x10024 resolution, you would type: knoppix screen=1280x1024 then hit the "Enter " key and it should boot to that resolution. See this link for the various knoppix cheat codes you can insert at the boot prompt and their use: http://www.knoppix.net/docs/index.php/CheatCodes |
