suse 9.0 linux -- is there a feature like win xp's "my computer"?

hey

i'm a linux newbie, and was wondering if any of you could please tell me if, in suse 9.0's gui, there's a feature analogous to "my computer" in win xp? i don't really know what i'm doing with linux yet, but on the linux desktop there are icons showing the cd drive and the floppy drive, but nothing showing my two hard drives. is there a simple way to view all this stuff, when browsing for files? i'm wondering if maybe there's something wrong & linux doesn't recognize the hd's.

thanks!

hi and welcome to the world of linux.
I am just learn it to so I can't say too much about it,
but to say there is a icon to show everything on your system like xp, no there is not anything that will compaire to xp in that way, but there is a way to confiqure it to do everything you want.
no there is nothing wrong with your system, you just need to learn how to operate it, and the learning curve is more diffculte than xp is, a good book or print out the user manual for it and learn how to use the command line interface, as everything to confiqure it to the way you want is done in there as far as I know so far.

keep posting your questions here, and someone will answere what they can.

Chunkstyle are the hardrives listed in your /etc/fstab file?

On SuSE 9.0 an easy way to mount your windows partitions is to right click on the desktop, you should have a disks then select the partition you want to show up on the desktop.

Mind you if your windows partition is NTFS it should mount in Read Only, you can copy files to linux but not visa versa.

Good luck with Linux, don't let the learning curve get the best of you. once you get the basics figures out you will start to have alot of fun

Mike
