Linux on a mac

I have heard the same questions everywhere "why would you want to put linux on a mac, its already a unix OS?" I want to run more windows games on a mac and was wondering if this is the solution, and if so do i have to have a special mac linux or can I run any old version?

If you want to run Windows games, installing Linux isn't going to help. However, you may have missed the big news today: Apple unveils software to run Windows XP on a Mac.

Note that this only works with the new Intel-processor Macs.

Also, please post your threads in the proper forum. This doesn't have anything to do with "Distributed Computing"; "Alternative Operating Systems" would be a better bet.
