Putting OS X in Win 2003 Active Directory

I only have a rudimentary working knowledge of OS X, so bear with me.

I have a few OS X machines that I need to attach to a Windows 2003 Active Directory environment. Now, I know OS X does support LDAP, so I wouldn't think it would be *too* much of a stretch to accomodate an active directory login and drive mapping.

Most of the guides I've come across so far are either ancient or dead links. Any ideas on how to accomplish this?

I have always worked the opposite way going from Windows to 'nix. Here are a few guides that might help.

Got the drive to mount no problem, but I still have to fiddle with joining it to the domain.

It was always a pain but I used to be able join FreeBSD machines in a domain. It was always done at the command line using Samba. I am sure that Apple has probably simplified it in their GUI. This was how to do at the command line.
