ibook

I have a old 2001 ibook and it dont seem to charge correctly im not sure if its the battery or the adapter, would anyone know a way to tell??? And also i never used a mac before so i dont know how to clear out the whole system or add or delete programs because someone had the computer before me, i tried to look around in the computer and did not see anything where i could delete software on the computer, do you know where i would be able to do that at?????? It came with apllication cd and restore cds but im not sure if i put in the restore cd if it will clear off everything the person before me has put on there. What would you recommend that i do? I pretty much want to clean off the whole computer, update it and add new programs and software.

If you use the restore discs they will wipe the computer. If you want to make sure they wipe the computer when you put in the disk and it brings up the operating system from the disk you can go into the disk utility (it is somewhere in the menu bar) From the disk utility select the hard drive and go to the erase tab. Volume format will be Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and the volume name can stay untitled or you can name it.

As for erasing. You can hit ctrl+mouse click and it will bring up a menu and an option will say move to trash. Or you can do it all at once and hit the apple key+delete (the backspace key on the mac keyboard is the delete key). Hope that helps.
