Polish fonts

Hey everybody,

I talk to a lot of my family in Polish via the Internet, and because I only have an English font or English keyboard setup, it gets very difficult. Currently, I have an Apple Mac OS X 10.5.1 . I am wondering where could I find a Polish font or two that I could use in Safari, Thunderbird, etc?

I have tried to use the Mac OS X International option, where you find your language and you can switch it from USA to Poland. Although, I had very little success with it because I did not know the keyboard shortcuts for the letters.

If the International Option on the MAC is the best way to go, does anybody know how to use it? If there are other ways, please help me out.

It seems that the International Option, and changing the option from "USA" to "Poland" does work. Although, other people do not see the characteristics that I am typing to them. Also, when I send out an e-mail to myself through Mozilla Thunderbird in Polish text, I receive it with "illegal" or unreadable characters. Do I have to change an option in T-Bird? I understand that the Polish thing in INTERNATIONAL lists it as Script: Central European. So when I go to T-bird and look at the "Character Encoding Option" , I see MORE ENCODING --> EAST EUROPEAN --> then I am given a list:

Central European(IBM-852), Central European(ISO-8859-2) , Central European(MacCE) and Central European(Windows-1250) . No matter which one I pick, I still cannot see the characters in the right format when I receive the e-mail. When I type the e-mail and utilize the Polish Character from the International thing, it works just fine. How do I get it working properly for T-Bird and Safari?

UPDATE: I communicated with Polish text to an American based computer with Windows Vista. This was through AIM. I have iCHAT and the other person has the latest AIM. She was able to acknowledge that she was able to see the correct Polish text.

UPDATE: So, I typed in the text in T-Bird, and hit sent. It said that if you send it in this encoding, it may come out illegal or unreadible. So I hit "Send in Unicode" . When I went to my "Sent" box, I was able to see the message. and it was correct. But to the receiver of e-mail, it was wrong.

UPDATE: I sent the e-mail via Yahoo Mail. I typed in the Polish text, and sent it to the person. She said she received it, and was correct. So, I checked Safari, and Safari said default Encoding is WESTERN(ISO LATIN). I checked T-Bird, and it does not even have that.

UPDATE: I changed the Encoder for Safari to something else, and sent the e-mail. I sent it to myself also. She said she saw the text correctly, but on my T-Bird, it does not show correctly.

Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks!
Matt

Actually, I think I figured it all out. But if anybody has any information that they think will be useful to me, please let me know.

Thanks,
Matt

This is what I would do. In the international pref pane "input menu" I would check "keyboard viewer" and change the input menu option to polish and check the "show input menu in menu bar" option.

Then from the input menu in the option bar click on "show keyboard viewer" which will bring up a large onscreen keyboard. Then if you need a special character you can use the "option/shift/control" keys to see the characters on the onscreen keyboard. Basically an onscreen kb mapper.

Hopefully you'll see characters like those above. (I'm assuming they'll show up an a webpage?)
