Drive sharing

The video and photography room at school has a pair of PowerMac G4's. One of them has a 320GB hdd installed that has all the videos on it. We really needed the other Mac to acess the harddrive so I connected them with a crossover cable. I set up the network to DHCP and they set themselves up fine. They could see each other in Network and I could mount the HDD's fine. All of a sudden they wont see each other. Apparently one locked up and when it restarted the LAN wouldn't work. Now no matter how many times I reset all the Network and Sharing settings they will no longer see each other. The network is actually working, just cannot get sharing to work. They are both running OSX 10.4. Any ideas?
