Animator Entering Mac

Hello I'm currently pursuing toward the road of my dream to open up my own animation company. I've been working with Windows lately and honestly it just isn't working with the programs (if Flash crashes one more time because of an error I swear). Since Macs are made for media I really want to get a Macbook (due to me being in school and having it double as a note taker for classes).

However I am very discouraged with the prices of Macs. Anyway I have some questions.

What would be the cheapest Mac to get that supports up to 4GB of RAM?

Also does it matter if I get a Macbook Pro instead of just a regular Macbook or is that just marketing?

I bought my MBP for use with graphics design which is what i used to go for, (i now am in mechanical engineering), and it really shines with Adobe in general. I know that some of the Macbooks have just the Intel graphics, so getting one with a Nvidia or ATI would do you good with animation. The newer Apple's go up to 8GBs of RAM now, so i would take a look at them. I have 4GBs running in mine now, and it operates like a breeze, and i can still run XP on it too, best of both worlds.
