imac in car crash!!

A friend at works daughter was going back to university and was hit by another car on the motorway with her car rolling over 5 times!!! The imac was damaged in the crash and he wants to know where in the UK he may be able to get the spare parts he needs. I know nothing about macs and have googled spare parts but if anyone can recomend a site that would be great. The other car did not stop and the mac was not covered by the insurance.

Thanks Gareth

Ouch. Hope she's ok.

As for the imac, If it's a tower, swappable parts include RAM, fans, expansion cards (so long as they are supported under the OS), hard drive, CD drive, and depending on the imac model, the CPU.

If it's a slim profile imac on a stand, it's very difficult to disassemble, but swappable parts include the RAM, CPU, hard drive, and fans.

What model is it? Is it still under warranty?

You might be able to get parts, or a whole new one off of ebay.

Best bet would probably be to contact your nearest Mac reseller. They should be able to supply you with parts but I don't know to what extent they'll supply beyond the usual user-serviceable parts.

Is an insurance claim for the computer not an option? If it's been physically damaged to the point of damaged components, rather than cosmetic damage, who knows what's been trashed in there!
